RESOLUTION OF THE SAN FRANCISCO DEMOCRATIC COUNTY CENTRAL COMMITTEE ENDORSING THE IRAQ MORATORIUM
WHEREAS, the people of San Francisco, the Democratic elected officials,
and the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee have repeatedly
called for an end to the war in Iraq; and
WHEREAS, the Bush administration has made clear its intention to continue
the occupation of Iraq throughout its tenure of office; and
WHEREAS, US Labor Against the War; the San Francisco Labor Council;
Veterans for Peace; Gold Star Families Speak Out; Declaration of Peace; SF
Friends Meeting; Unitarian Universalists for Peace; Network of Spiritual Progressives;
Peace Action West; and the Harvey Milk, Bernal Heights and Wellstone
Democratic Clubs have endorsed the Iraq Moratorium
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the San Francisco Democratic Party
endorses the Iraq Moratorium's demands to Stop the War and Bring the Troops
Home and its program of a monthly series of actions demanding an end to the
war held on the Third Friday of every month.
Submitted by Michael Goldstein, Robert Haaland, Rafael Mandelman, David
Campos, Connie O'Connor, Joe Julian, and Tom Gallagher, for consideration at
the February 27, 2008, meeting of the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee
That's what the U.S. Office of Budget & Management reports has been spent in Iraq since the illegal invasion in March 2003.
If this makes your blood pressure rise, join the Iraq Moratorium Campaign's effort to get thousands of postcards into the offices of the CA. congressional delegation.
In S.F. the Iraq Moratorium Campaign will set up ironing boards in neighborhoods on the 3rd Saturday and/or 3rd Sunday of the month, starting March 15 and 16th. On the boards will be available a tragic but real photo of a U.S. mother following her son's casket to his grave. Passers-by will be asked to write a message and provide a donation for stamps and materials (not mandatory, of course).
Imagine what $2.8 Trillion could have done for health care, housing, education, childcare, Katrina victims, the world. Imagine the lives of the Iraqis and U.S. troops before the tragedy of a war based on lies.
Help out if you can. This is a chance to talk with people about the connection between the war and the economy. Let us know if you want postcards for your neighborhood, workplace, union, faith community, school.
