JOIN IRAQ MORATORIUM CAMPAIGN

Thursday, March 19, 2009 was the Sixth Anniversary of the war and occupation of Iraq, and the beginning of the Seventh Year of a war based on lies, resulting in:

- Over 4,250 US Military combat deaths;
- Over 30,000 US Military wounded;
- Over 500,000 Iraqi civilian deaths;
- Over 2 million Iraqi civilian refugees; and destruction of millions of civilian homes.

Join us to consider our nation’s priorities:

1. 25% cut in the US military budget as a first step,
2. End the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan now,
3. Jobs, education and heath care, not military spending!

U.S. Budget Priorities

U.S. Budget Priorities: This chart represents the 2007-2008 U.S. discretionary budget, the part of the budget that the President and Congress create each year. It does not include Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and national debt interest.

About the Iraq Moratorium Campaign: We care deeply about all people of this country and the world. Many live without their basic needs of health care, housing, food, and educational opportunities.  The costs of war and military intervention denies all of us our human rights and dignity.

A variety of actions on the third Friday of the month take place in many Bay Area neighborhoods to call attention to the continuing occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan.  As well, members of the Iraq Moratorium table in their neighborhoods providing information to communities about the war, its costs, and encourage the public to take a public stand for peace. Together, many of us can end this war.

See the Call to Action page for more information about our new campaign to reduce the military budget.

See Peace Pundit for report on the IMC action of March 19, 2009.
